Hello I’m Becky Johnson and my company is Made by Beck, I’m a specialist in soft furnishings and window dressings.
My journey into the world of professional curtain and blind making began in 2002, when I formally trained with the National Design Academy. However, my passion for sewing and crafting traces back to my childhood, where I have followed in the footsteps of my Nan, mum, and Auntie – all talented crafters in crocheting, knitting, dressmaking, and patchwork. The sewing machine was always out on the dining room table and my mum was often sewing and making. When I left home my mum showed me how to make my first pair of curtains and I was ‘hooked’!
Following my certification, I embarked on a career as an outworker for various local retail businesses, honing my skills and expanding my knowledge. Balancing my role as a mum to two children (now teens) and part-time commitments, I took the leap in 2011 and established Made by Beck. What began in the confines of my front room, then a barn at the family farm in Deeping St Nicholas, in 2017 the business relocated to a more spacious and accommodating work environment at Unit 1b Squirrels Lodge in Frognall, near Market Deeping.
I work with people that want beautiful bespoke solutions for their windows. I help them select suitable fabric and window dressings to make their space feel homely and offer lasting timeless solutions. I will turn your interior dreams into reality by providing a friendly, stress free ‘whole’ service package from the first measure in your home to the final professional fit.
You can even visit my workroom unit to view all my samples. Guiding you through the process, I have a large range of fabric books, pole and track samples, tiebacks and cushions to suit your style and budget. Alongside the soft furnishings I also supply roller, wood and metal Venetian plus Perfect fit blinds. Offering the perfect solution for any window from my trusted suppliers.
Every curtain and Roman blind that bears the Made by Beck label is meticulously handcrafted by me in my workroom or by my small team of carefully selected makers. We use traditional techniques and unwavering attention to detail.
